NEWSFLASH:
The AGLCA Board of Directors thanks our current VP Gerda E. for representing the organization overseas. On May 4th in Amsterdam, Holland Gerda will lay a wreath at the Homo Monument in remembrance of the thousands of Lesbians and Gays persecuted under the Nazi regime.

The AGLCA is the FIRST foreign LGBT group invited to participate in this extraordinary ceremony, and we appreciate Gerda's time and expense in this endeavor. Of Special note is that Gerda will be at the May 13th Social to talk about her participation in this event.

Politics Matter

The LGBT community of Virginia has been the target of much discriminatory and hateful legislation in the past few years. The good news is that the entire General Assembly of Virginia will stand for election this year. Citizens of the Commonwealth have an opportunity to retain those delegates and senators who have represented us well, and oust those whose goal has been to oppress us.

The LGBT community cannot afford to act as if politics don’t matter. It matters a lot, and we should all get involved in electing a General Assembly that will STOP discriminating, and roll back some of the hateful legislation of the past several years.

Get involved in the campaigns of politicians and candidates who will pass equality-minded legislation. To find candidates you can believe it, check out the political groups for gays and lesbians in Virginia: the Virginia Log Cabin Republicans (www.virginialogcabin.org) and the Virginia Partisans Gay & Lesbian Democratic Club (www.vapartisans.org). Tell the candidates you support that you expect them to fight for ALL Virginians to have access to the same rights. It’s time to STOP discrimination in Virginia.
