| 2006 | The "Friends of AGLCA" program was launched at the beginning of 2006, which identified gay-friendly businesses that offer discounts and specials to AGLCA members. Social and community service activities continued through the year (see list of activities), along with a campaign to educate the public about the negative aspects of the so called marriage amendment which appeared on the ballot in November 2006. Membership continued to grow, and the goal of raising $20,000 for the AGLCA Scholarship was met. |
| 2005 | The Alexandria GLCA scholarship fund was created to benefit local high school graduates, and the first annual award was presented in the Spring. The organization joined the city's Adopt-a-Block program with visible streets in Old Town, and assisted local social service agencies with projects. We communicated with Alexandria's elected state representatives and City Council throughout the year on issues affecting the GLBT community, and we held a cookout to honor local law enforcement and fire department personnel. Monthly socials continued, along with numerous outings and sponsored educational events. (See Past Events for a list of activities from 2005 & 2006.) Membership tripled by the end of the year. |
| 1999 | Alexandria GLCA continued its tradition of meeting with members of the General Assembly. In September 1999, Alexandria GLCA hosted a candidates forum for State Senator and Delegates. Expanded efforts for "more and better social" activities. |
| 1998 | Alexandria GLCA lobbied members of the General Assembly regarding sodomy reform, hate crimes, HIV/AIDS services funding, and Family Life Education. Alexandria GLCA expanded its social activities with Halloween, monthly happy hours, summer BBQ and more. |
| 1997 | Alexandria GLCA hosted a candidate's forum for Mayor and City Council in April for the May 6, 1997 election. Alexandria GLCA hosted a candidate's forum for General Assembly Delegates, Sheriff and Commonwealth Attorney in October for the November 4, 1997 election. |

| 1990 | Alexandria GLCA changed its name to Alexandria Gay & Lesbian Community Association in recognition of the significant contribution of women and to encourage more participation of women in the association. |
| 1988 | Alexandria GLCA's members helped pass an amendment to the Alexandria Human Rights Ordinance prohibiting discrimination based on sexual orientation in housing, health/social services, public accommodations, credit, and education. The City of Alexandria became the first jurisdiction in Virginia to ban discrimination based on sexual orientation. The association considers this to be our greatest single accomplishment. The media campaign developed by the association received national attention. |
| 1983 | Alexandria GLCA was founded as the Alexandria Gay Community Association (AGCA). Its mission was to provide educational and social outreach to the Gay and Lesbian community in Alexandria. |
